Know The Facts About Diet Drinks and Artificial Sweeteners


More and more brands marketing “health food” are hiding chemically-manufactured, artificial sweeteners in their products to appease the North American sweet tooth … and sales of the diet drinks are larger than ever before!  Unfortunately, the dangers of artificial sweeteners and diet drinks, though well-known, are largely hidden from the public.
Splenda?  Aspartame?  Sucralose?  Equal?

In the last twenty years, the average American’s sugar intake has gone up from 26 pounds per person, per year to 135 pounds of sugar per person, per year.  With this massive increase of sugar into the bloodstreams of Americans, diseases like diabetes, Alzheimer’s, cardiovascular, and cancer are rapidly growing out of control. Furthermore, research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed that the amount of sugar consumed in two sweetened drinks lowers the immune system by 50 percent for up to five hours after drinking or eating.1  In other words, sugar is the number one factor that limits the ability of white blood cells to fight viral and bacterial invaders and suppresses the immune system’s ability to fight off infections, sickness and disease.(more)

Is A Canola Healthy?

With National Nutrition Month underway, a big question to ask yourself is “Am I cooking with the right oils”?  I’m sure everyone reading this right now has thought about that at least one hundred times before, but in order to keep you and your family healthy you have to be one hundred percent sure you are doing the right thing. With all of the controversy over the past 4-5 years about what fats and oils to eat, stay away from, and simply just avoid at all costs, I don’t blame you for being confused. Just recently (not so recently, studies have been out for years) a few studies have surfaced over the horrible issues arising with the use of Canola oil. I ask you though, what is Canola oil and where does it come from?

Yes, we said it: remove the word "Diet" from your vocabulary!

There are pro’s and con’s to eating. It’s enjoyable, tastes good, it’s entertaining or it makes us heavy, causes disease and leads to eating disorders. One of the best things that you can do is throw out the dreaded word “Diet”! The thought of dieting (taking away food) is intimidating and actually makes many of us eat more.
This is where the Addition Rule comes in. Find the things that you like and add foods that you enjoy eating that don’t make you heavy! Remove grains and sugars from your diet.
